The San Diego (SD) Scooter Competition is an annual scooter contest that takes place in San Diego, California, United States.
Format[]
The Competition is separated into 3 competitive tiers - Beginner, Intermediate (or 'Amateur') and Pro (or 'Advanced'). Each competitor has a 60 second run which is observed by 3 judges. Each judge rates each riders' run out of 100 points. Each rider is usually Judged on Style, Consistency, Amplitude, Originality and Trick Difficulty. Once these points are decided, the lowest score out of the 3 is dropped and an final score for each rider is determined.
The Best Trick competition is open to any riders out of the different competitive tiers, and each rider is allowed 5 attempts. Each rider's trick is judged equally on Style, Amplitude, Originality and Trick Difficulty.

SD1 was the first San Diego Scooter Contest which took place on the weekend starting Saturday 30th December, 2007. It was hosted at the YMCA Krause Family Skatepark in Clairemont, San Diego, California, United States. Entry fees were $15 for a Beginner, $20 for an Intermediate, and $25 for 'Advanced' competitors.
Sponsors included Scooter Resource and Fuzion Scooters.
The three highest placing competitiors in all three competitive tiers received a prize package consisting of items such as scooters, bearings, grip tap, grips, wheels, t-shirts, stickers and other various parts and products.
There was also a $5 raffle as well for anyone to enter to win various prizes like those included in the prize packages.
The prize money for best trick was $100.

SD2 was the second annual San Diego Scooter Contest which took place on the weekend starting Saturday 29th December, 2007. It was hosted at the YMCA Krause Family Skatepark in Clairemont, San Diego, California, United States. Entry fees were $15 for a Beginner and Intermediate, whilst 'Pro Class' entry was $30.
Sponsors included Scooter Resource and Fuzion.
The prize money for best trick was $100.

SD3 was the third annual San Diego Scooter Contest which took place on the weekend starting Saturday 3rd January, 2009. It was hosted at the YMCA Krause Family Skatepark in Clairemont, San Diego, California, United States. Entry fees were $15 for a Beginner and Intermediate, whilst 'Pro Class' entry was $30.
Sponsors included Scooter Resource, PROTO Scooters, A.F.S.A, Whip Scooters, ScooterTees, Scooter Zone, Fuzion, FrenchID, EagleSport, ScooYork and Inward Scooters.
The prize money for best trick was $100.
Due to wet weather conditions, the contest was postponed until Sunday, January 4th.

SD4 was the fourth annual San Diego Scooter Contest which took place on the weekend starting Saturday 2nd January, 2010. It was hosted at the YMCA Krause Family Skatepark in Clairemont, San Diego, California, United States. Entry fees rose to $20 for a Beginner and Intermediate, whilst 'Pro Class' entry became $30
Sponsors included Scooter Resource, PROTO Scooters, A.F.S.A, ScooterTees, Scooter Zone, Fuzion, Lucky Scooter Parts, Dominator Scooter Accessories, Inward Scooters and EXC Action Sports. Inside Scooters Blog was also a sponsor for the competition but was not stated on the flyer.
The prize money for best trick was $250.

This event also doubled as the finals for the Fuzion 'Raise The Gnar' Tour. The event was the debut for the company ProRide Scooters.

SD5 was the fifth annual San Diego Scooter Contest which took place on the weekend starting Saturday 8th January, 2011. It was hosted at the YMCA Krause Family Skatepark in Clairemont, San Diego, California, United States. Entry fees rose again from last year to $25 for a Beginner (or Amateur), whilst 'Pro Class' entry became $50 (nearly doubling since last year)
Sponsors included Scooter Resource, Lucky Scooter Parts, Phoenix Pro Scooters, Blunt Scooters, District, PROTO Scooters, The Scooter Zone, and Madd Gear - All of which had to pay $500 to set up a booth for promotional purposes. $5000 of this money would go towards the rider' total cash prizes.
Overseas contestants included Brendon Smith, Max Peters and Warick Beynon who attended the competition during the Blunt USA Tour.
The SD5 competition was the first of the San Diego events to not include best trick.

SD6 was the sixth annual San Diego Scooter Contest which took place on the weekend starting Saturday 7th January, 2012. It was hosted at the YMCA Krause Family Skatepark in Clairemont, San Diego, California, United States.
Sponsors included Scooter Resource, Madd Gear, Razor, ELYTS, SDSF scooter shop, Scooter Zone, Equilibryum Bands, Proto scooters, Boxes Clothing, Free Style Depot, Tilt, Grindo Scooters, and Luck Scooters.
International entrants competitors included Ryan Williams, Max Peters, Terry Price and BenJ Friant.
The SD6 event reinstated the Best Trick contest.

In the Middle of Dakota Schuetz's run, he performed a whip to turndown on the 'death drop' part of the skatepark, the very trick (and set-up) that won Chris Gascoigne the Best Trick contest at SD2.

SD7 was the seventh annual San Diego Scooter Contest which took place on the weekend starting Saturday 29th December, 2012. It was hosted at the YMCA Krause Family Skatepark in Clairemont, San Diego, California, United States.
Sponsors included Scooter Resource, Proto, Freestyle Depot, Boxes, Madd Gear, Scooter Garage, Scooter Zone, Nextsport (Fuzion), Lucky, Elyts, Twisted, and Tilt. The total prize money was over $7,000.
The SD6 event reinstated the Best Trick contest.
